Meeting with the head Make Up Artist - Alyse Atkin

Yesterday we had another meeting, this time with the head Make Up artist for the show - Alyse Atkin. We are also going to use two make up looks, so that throughout the show their are two overall hair and make up looks on the models. So one make up idea will always be used with one of the hair style, and vice versa.

Alyse came with a variety of ideas she had tried for the show and we went through them all and picked out our favourites. Make up is quite hard as any colours that might be used could potentially clash with the collections, therefore it was important to pick out the designs we felt would compliment the majority. We also don't want the make up to take away from the collections themselves, and had the same issue we had with the hair - getting the right balance. We want the audience to know the hair and make up has been done, giving the students recognition, however we don't want to make this the main focus and take away from the collections. We also kept in mind the hairstyles we had talked through with Kirsten, and chose make up we felt would also compliment these.

The first look we chose for the show is a bold lip with some contouring on the cheek bones. Alyse is going to go away and make some changes to the designs based on what we said during the meeting. The lip is too dark in this drawing and we wanted to try more of a plum colour. We also wanted the contouring to be on the cheek bones and not under the eye.

Alyse went away and worked on the design and sent us the new design for the make up look. We now have to make a decision between red lips or purple lips. I myself like the purple lip, but Gemma likes the red, so we need help coming to a decision. What do you all think?

The next design is bold eyebrows with a very natural face. The eyebrows will be shaped like the image and the rest of the face will be very natural. Both the final looks will show that the make up has been done professionally, but at the same time these two looks won't take away from the collections. Now we just need to decide on the final hair and make up looks as a team, and then we can let the rest of the team know what they will need on the day!
