Today we met with our team of dressers to run through the show and what is expected of them. Dressing is a very fun and exhilarating role, however it is also quite stressful and it is essential that they know what they are doing and do it efficiently. When the dressers arrive at the venue on Saturday 7th June they will be getting there at 12:45pm ready to meet their allocated model at 1pm. Each dresser will look after one model during the whole day and they will make sure that the model fits into each outfit and has been to hair and make up. The design students will also be arriving at 1pm to meet the six different dressers and models that are wearing their collection. This is their chance to let the dressers know exactly how they wish their collection to look and to check that the clothing fits on the models. The dressers also need to look out for any loose threads on the garments and need to let anyone know if anything needs pressing or steaming or more importantly if anything doesn't fit. SO overall the dressers have a lot of work to do on the day and not an awful lot of time to do it!
Over the past few days the running order has been finalised and we now know the order of the collections and which models will be wearing each piece. It is now our job to produce the dresser sheets that will be placed at the end of their assigned rail. This sheet will tell them what each outfit involves, what the shoes look like and any accessories that may be included. This means that the dresser knows exactly what the model should be wearing each time they walk on the catwalk.
Later on in the day we then met with the designers and found out the order of their collection on the catwalk and any styling they will be having. In order to fill out the dressers forms properly we need all this information. Each piece from the collection was labelled from outfit 1 to 6 to show the order and a brief description was given to us to put on the forms. They also told us what the shoes would look like for each outfit and any accessories that the outfits would be having, if any. Now that we have managed to find out this information we can begin producing the dresser forms ready for next weekend!
