follow your dreams

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

I started up my little blog for a university project to promote the fashion show I was working on. Every post so far has been based around the fashion show and my final major project. Now I have graduated from university I have big aspirations. My degree was in fashion promotion and communication, with the aim of working within the fast paced fashion industry. However, after completing a month of work experience at Monsoon Accessorize Head Office in London I realised this was not the career path for me. I didn’t feel inspired or passionate and felt I would end up doing a job I found boring. I changed my mind a million times at university and stumble across a love for graphic design. This new found passion led me to some ideas for my final major project, all based around graphic design. Then finally it all clicked into place. I had carried out some projects based around event planning and enjoyed all aspects of the task. I stepped out of my comfort zone and instead of sticking with the safe option of designing my own DIY magazine, I decided to take the opportunity of planning the Final Year Fashion Show at my university with the help of one of my course friends. We had our separate roles in the lead up to the show, with my focus on social media, graphic design and promotion of the event. Yes it was stressful, but yes I loved it!!

Over the past couple of years I helped a very close friend of mine plan her wedding. My main role in helping her was designing her wedding stationary and creating some of the finishing touches for the big day. She had a clear concept of what she wanted, but allowed me to use my imagination and come up with some ideas for her wedding. As it happens, I was also her bridesmaid, and on the day every little touch looked perfect.

Luckily my sister recently got engaged and she wants me to help her out with various aspects of her wedding. From helping with both of these special days, I know that wedding planning is my dream – and I am ready to follow this dream!

I now work as a Tipi Weddings Co-ordinator for Beautiful World Tents and I intent to start up my own wedding planning business, Elizabeth Grace. I have a long way to go, but one day I hope to be living my dream. Make sure you follow yours.
