Enliven Designer Meeting and Technical Meeting!

On Friday we met with all the final Enliven designers and had the opportunity to find out more about what they plan to make for the final catwalk show. All the designers have been to their designated charity shop to collect materials and now have the task of transforming these old fabrics and garments into incredible pieces. The initial ideas discussed during the meeting have already made us extremely excited for the final show! Every single designer has a unique sense of style which they seem to be incorporating into their own work. They have also all come up with a strong theme for their pieces making the garments into a story.

Another very exciting part of the project is the celebrity involvement. Royal milliner Philip Treacy has donated one of his hats to Enliven, and we can't imagine how much this must cost! However, you have to agree, it is absolutely beautiful. Perfect for a wedding!

After we had met all the designers we then had a technical meeting with the technical manager at The Point to discuss lighting and the catwalk. We need the lighting to be white and to point in all directions. This prevents shadows from appearing on the catwalk and ensures that all the clothing is lit from all angles. The white light, which will include violet gels, will provide a cooler look on the catwalk rather than a warm yellowy tinge. This also makes the clothing look better and shows off the colours much more powerfully.

The catwalk for the show will be white to show off the clothing well. White also gives a very clean and professional look to the show. Behind the catwalk will be a white background which will have the designers names projected on as their collections come out. The catwalk will be ordered in from a company who will set it up the day before the show, and we think overall the venue is going to look great!

We also had a chance to see the dressing rooms for the show, and the space provided is massive. We were expecting a lot less space than what we saw, which is great news as there will be a lot of people backstage. The technical meeting has definitely left us feeling very excited for the final show, and we believe it is going to be fantastic!
